My Baking Adventures

German chocolate cake... my absolute favorite cake!

Turns out, the recipe on the back of a Bakers baking chocolate bar is the PERFECT recipe. Except for figuring out how to separate the eggs yolks, which is required for the recipe--for a novice like me, that seemed impossible! But... the internet helped me out, there. Check the video at the end of this section. :)
I wanted to make homemade strawberry buttercream frosting, and as it turns out, strawberry reduction is super easy to do!
Basically, you puree strawberries, add a little lemon, salt, and maybe some sugar, and reduce by half over low heat.
Add the powdered sugar and butter, mix it up, and viola! Delicious.
And they are "Lily Approved!"
An easy rustic bread--mix up the dough...
Flour and fold it into a shaggy dough ball, then cover and let it rise overnight in a dutch oven...
...Then bake it in the same dutch oven the next day. So good! :)
I ALSO love just a perfect yellow cake... and this one has my homemade dark chocolate buttercream frosting--with a bit of espresso powder to intensify the flavor. It's fantastic!
I mean... YUM!
OH! And I couldn't cook without this--I use this scale for basically EVERYTHING. The things I didn't know I didn't know. :)
